It’s Back!!
Container Challenge – with a Twist!

Sunday, December 8, 2024

We are bringing our infamous Container Challenge back – and it will have a new look! As always, boxes will be numbered (so you just have to call out the number of the box – no need to say alert), but we’ve thought up new ways to test your memory skills while working on your teamwork in Containers! Entries will open on Monday, October 28th, so check back here then! Prizes will be awarded to the 3 teams in each division who find the most number of boxes and who have the fewest “faults.”  One entry per dog, please, but you are welcome to enter multiple dogs at each level (second dog at the same level will run FEO).

UPDATE TO THE CONTAINER CHALLENGE
At this time (November 3), we have had an overwhelming number of entries, so we have made the decision to close entries for both levels.  We will start a wait list, and if openings become available, we will contact those on the wait list immediately.  We apologize for any inconvenience and we hope to be able to accommodate everyone for this very popular event!  If you would like to be added to the wait list, please email Patty Sontag at: pattynosedogs@gmail.com.

NACSW ORT

Sunday, February 2, 2025

We are pleased to announce that we will be holding an NACSW ORT (Odor Recognition Test) on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Opening date for entries is Monday, November 18, 2024.  Cost is $35 per odor ( ex.: 3 odors being tested equals $105). We will not be accommodating handlers who are looking to have two dogs tested at this event.

Please note that as of January 1, 2025, the handler must call an “alert” within a two minute thirty second (2:30) time limit.  In addition, the ORT boxes will be set up in two rows, spaced a minimum of 36” apart.  This is a change in the rules from previous ORTs.

FMI, contact the Test Secretary, Patty Sontag, at MasterPeace (508-553-9300) or at:  pattynosedogs@gmail.com.

Updated COVID Policies, including Masks (2/15/22)

Based on the positivity rate of COVID continuing to decline, and the recent advisory released by the MA Dept. of Public Health, we are updating our COVID guidelines, effective immediately.

  • Masks will no longer be REQUIRED inside the building. If you have underlying health issues, other risk factors, have someone at home who is immunocompromised, or are unvaccinated, it is ADVISED that you wear a mask.
  • If you are not feeling well (and this includes sneezing, runny nose, or are exhibiting even minor cold symptoms), please stay home! Be mindful of any changes you may feel, including fever/chills, loss of taste or smell, etc.). It is advised that you get tested (either rapid or 24 hour) to rule out COVID. Also, please advise us that you will be absent from class because you are not feeling well.
  • Should a household family member, or someone that you have been in close contact with, test positive, please get tested yourself. If you test negative, you may attend class, but we do ask that you wear a mask to protect others.  Obviously, if you test positive, you will have to stay out of class for 5 days, and may return after those 5 days, wearing a mask, provided your symptoms are subsiding or have subsided.
  • Sharing of food may resume.
  • Please do your best to stay at least 6 feet apart.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation regarding all of this.
