About Us
Established in October 2001, we have trained thousands of pet owners
and their dogs using positive training methods.
MasterPeace Dog Training is a full-service dog training center, offering a multitude of classes, from Family Pet Classes all the way up through competition-level classes. MasterPeace was founded by Fran and Mike Masters back in 2001 and has continued to grow and expand class offerings ever since. We teach using positive training methods, including clicker training, and are committed to teaching you to train your dog in a way that is not only effective, but fun for you and your dog.
Our Philosophy
At MasterPeace we use science-based, positive training methods to help your dog live his/her best life! Dog owners can begin training their puppies as early as 8 weeks old. In addition, all dogs can learn new skills at any age.
A well-mannered dog makes life more enjoyable for dogs and their families. They are able to participate in all aspects of the owner’s life, be safe doing so, and are not likely to develop behavioral problems later on. Our goal is to help you communicate with your dog and to understand what your dog is trying to communicate with you. No two instructors are exactly alike. However, our common ground is that we find when training is fun for both dog and handler, both look forward to training sessions, pay more attention, train more often in daily life, and come back for more! Not only do our clients train certain behaviors in class, but students will understand the principles behind the training so they may continue to train throughout their dog’s life. In each class, we try to leave time for questions and answers so that individual issues can be addressed.
In Memoriam Mike Masters
We referred to Mike Masters as the DogFather. He truly loved all the dogs and the dogs all loved him. Mike started teaching agility in the ’90’s when it first became a sport. There are many agility competitors with multiple MACHs who got their beginnings with Mike.
In 2001 Mike and his wife, Fran, opened MasterPeace Dog Training in Franklin, where Fran continues today. Mike owned, trained and competed with many dogs of his own, and was most notably seen with his service dog, Paxton, a Spinoni Italiano. It was a great loss to the agility and the entire dog community when Mike joined Boo and Paxton on the Rainbow Bridge in June, 2015. He truly was the DogFather.
